Anniversaries: Nov. 18, 2012

Mr. and Mrs. Jerry M. Doolittle

Mr. and Mrs. Jerry M. Doolittle will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Dec. 9, 2012.

The Doolittles were married Dec. 9, 1962, in Eighth Avenue Baptist Church by the Rev. Don Edwards.

Cards are welcome and may be sent to 7068 N. Rebecca Court, Terre Haute, IN 47805.

Mrs. Doolittle, the former Leanne Cunning, is a retired registered nurse.

Doolittle is a retired commercial artist.

The couple have three daughters, Julie Rhodes of Dover, Del., Jill Austin and husband Jay of Kildeer, Ill., and Jan Wilson and husband Nathan of Broken Arrow, Okla.; and one son, the late Jerry Robert Doolittle. They also have five grandchildren.  



Mr. and Mrs. Norman Borders

Lara and Norman Borders of Port Orange, Fla., will celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary on Nov. 19, 2012, with their son Dennis, their niece Kathy Allen and Randy, Lara’s twin sister Laree, her daughter LaDonna, and friends Vivian and Tom Davidson from Terre Haute.

Lara and Norman are formerly of Terre Haute. Norman is a World War II veteran. He served in the U.S. Army. Lara retired from Public Service Indiana (Duke Energy) after 37 years.

The Borders owned the Toasty Shop and later, the Terre Haute House Coffee Shop, before retiring and relocating to Florida in 1990.

Lara and Norman have one son, two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Their granddaughter, Denise Borders, resides in Terre Haute, along with her children, Lauren and Justin Michael. The Borders’ grandson, Jesse, resides in Florida. Lara’s only living brother, Earl Romine, lives in Farmersburg. They also have several nieces and nephews.



Mr. and Mrs. Charles Travelstead

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Travelstead will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Nov. 30, 2012.

The Travelsteads were married on Nov. 30, 1962, in LaPorte, Ind.

Mrs. Travelstead is the former Nora Bose.

The couple have three children, Danny, Mike and Lisa Travelstead. They also have four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.



Mr. and Mrs. Charles Cottrell

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Cottrell will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary during an open house from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012, in the Sandcut firehouse at 5970 Rio Grande Ave.

Friends and family are invited. Cards would be appreciated, but no gifts please.

They were married Sept. 8, 1962, in the Methodist Church in Bainbridge by the Rev. Verl Winslow.

Mrs. Cottrell is the former Kay Ruark. She worked in the Otter Creek Assessor’s office for 25 years. Charles worked at J.I. Case and First Financial Bank. They are both retired.

They have a daughter, Chris (Wilbur) Reid, and a son, Chad. They also have five grandchildren.

The Cottrells also celebrated earlier with a Caribbean cruise.
