‘Spring Along the Wabash’ event March 23

TERRE HAUTE — You can enjoy an afternoon of “Spring Along the Wabash” — a style show and luncheon on Saturday, March 23, sponsored by the Woman’s Department Club of Terre Haute. This year’s theme is in keeping with the 2013 Year of the River celebration. You can join members of one of the oldest women’s organizations in the area as they celebrate the famous Wabash River.

The Country Club of Terre Haute will be the setting for this event, which will begin at 11 a.m. with a silent auction, boutique and raffle. A luncheon will be served at noon. The Style Show sponsored by Macy’s will feature members of the Woman’s Department Club and local leaders wearing the newest spring clothing and accessories.

Tickets are $35 each and can be purchased from any Woman’s Department Club member or by calling 812-299-4491.

The Woman’s Department Club, which was organized in 1920 and incorporated in 1922, continues to promote cultural, educational and mental development of women in the community.

Members donate products and services to many community organizations. In addition, each year, a scholarship is presented to a deserving Junior Department graduating senior.

Since it was founded, the Woman’s Department Club has had a significant community presence.

The purpose of Saturday’s affair is to raise revenue to allow the members to continue the much-needed scholarship fund, the many community outreach projects, and the upkeep of its historic clubhouse in Farrington’s Grove district.

For more information about the Woman’s Department Club, call 812-299-4491.
