Mr. and Mrs. William McCarty

Mr. and Mrs. William McCarty celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Friday, Sept. 11, 2009, with family and friends during a surprise party in the Zorah Shrine Country Place.

The couple were married Sept. 12, 1959, in Sacred Heart Catholic Church by the Rev. James Barron.

Mrs. McCarty, the former Patricia Stephens, is retired from the Vigo County School Corp.

McCarty was a self-employed carpet installer and is now employed by Niehaus Home Center.

Hosts were the couple’s three children, Nancee and Kevin Snedeker, Bill and Libby McCarty, and Mike and Nikki McCarty.

They also have eight grandchildren.

Mr. and Mrs. Bill Hooker

Mr. and Mrs. Bill Hooker of Linton, and formerly of Terre Haute, observed their 25th wedding anniversary Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2009. A trip is planned at a later date.

The couple were married Oct. 20, 1984, in Maplewood Christian Church in Terre Haute by the Rev. Don Osborne.

Hooker is the Greene County American Family Insurance agent. Mrs. Hooker, the former Susie Ellis, is the American Family Insurance office manager.

The couple have one son, William Hooker, at home.
