Terre Haute: Consider volunteering time as a CASA
Consider volunteering time to advocate for an abused or neglected child as a CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) volunteer. Volunteers meet with the child or children and other persons involved in the child’s life, and write reports to the court that focus on the best interest of the child.
Vigo County CASA serves hundreds of abused and neglected children per year, and often there is a list of children waiting for their special volunteer to be assigned.
If there is enough interest, a training class will be planned for November.
Contact the Vigo County CASA office for more information at (812) 231-5658.

PAW PRINTS: Want to adopt a pit bull? Here are some helpful hints
Despite the bad publicity, pit bulls can be very lovable and loyal family dogs. There is a great deal of confusion associated with the label “pit bull.” The most accurate definition refers to two breeds: the American pit bull terrier and the American Staffordshire terrier. Some people include other breeds in this group because they share similar head shapes and body types.
