‘Gardener’s Gathering’ to feature vendors, experts

TERRE HAUTE — Getting anxious to start gardening? Enjoy a fun-filled day at the Wabash Valley Master Gardeners’ Association spring seminar, “Gardener’s Gathering,” from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 9.

The seminar will take place in the Oakley Auditorium on Ivy Tech Community College’s main campus, and will feature vendors and expert speakers presenting various topics in the field of horticulture.

Doors will open at 8 a.m. for registration and continental breakfast. Lunch is included in the registration fee, and door prizes will be given throughout the day.

Featured speakers include Jerry Lehman, who traveled last fall to Yalta, Ukraine, and gave a presentation on the American persimmon and pawpa. Carol Michel, owner of the world’s largest hoe collection, will share about all kinds of gardening with a mix of humor and horticulture. Colletta Kosiba will show the wide variety of easy care native plants guaranteed to thrive in area habitats. And John Rosene, chair of the agriculture program at Ivy Tech, will have ideas to make gardens a place visitors won’t forget.

Registration is $35 ($40 after Feb. 28). Walk-ins are welcome. Make checks payable to: WVMGA c/o John Hilderbrand, 701 Dallas Drive, Terre Haute, IN 47802. For more information contact: Brenda Kirchner at k211713@aol.com or Yvonne Russell at yvonne.russell@indstate.edu.
