Historian to discuss river at Genealogy meeting

TERRE HAUTE — At the regular meeting of the Wabash Valley Genealogy Society on March 11, Mike McCormick will present a program, “The Wabash River-Its Impact Through the Ages.”

McCormick will focus his presentation on the wide and varied impact the Wabash River has had on the Wabash Valley. He will discuss the river’s influence on commerce, the migration of early settlers and other areas with genealogical implications.

McCormick has been the Vigo County historian since 1996. He is the author of “Terre Haute: Queen City on the Wabash.” He has written a column since 1995 for the Tribune-Star called Historical Perspective. He also writes Wabash Valley Profiles.

The meeting is open to the public and will be in rooms A, B & C in the Vigo County Public Library. Doors open at 6 p.m. with the meeting running from 6:15 to 8:30 p.m.
