Mr. and Mrs. Tom Ewing

Tom and Carole Ewing are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary today. They were married on Sunday, Aug. 26, 1962, in Methodist Temple Church at Terre Haute by the Rev. Ralph Moore Jones.

The couple met while in junior high together at Honey Creek School. He graduated from Honey Creek High School in 1958 and went on to receive his degree in teaching from Indiana State University. He spent most of his teaching career as a fifth grade teacher at Lost Creek Elementary School from which he retired in 2001. Carole, the former Carole Gummere, graduated from Honey Creek High School in 1958 and attended ISU. She spent more than 20 years as secretary of Sugar Grove Elementary School from which she retired in 2001.  

Their marriage is blessed with two children, son Greg Ewing and wife Kelly, and daughter Lori Fox and husband Jack, all of Terre Haute. They also enjoy five grandchildren, Abigail, Matthew, Noah, Caroline and Chloe.  

Tom and Carole were honored with a dinner party hosted by their children and Carole’s mother, Betty Gummere, on Aug. 25th. They also celebrated by enjoying a Caribbean cruise in June. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Lawson Jr.

Mr. and Mrs. Richard Lawson Jr. of Terre Haute will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary during a party with family and friends on Sept. 1, 2012, in the Girl Scout Building ball room.

The Lawsons were married Sept. 8, 1962, in Terre Haute.

Mrs. Lawson, the former Laverne Barnett James, is retired from Lowes. Lawson is retired from the Vigo County School Corp.

The couple have four children, Howard Lawson, Linda and husband Thomas Moore Sr., Michelle Grady and husband Adrian all of Terre Haute, and Michael Lawson and wife Kim of San Antonio. They also have 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchildren.



Mr. and Mrs. Ray Parks

Mr. and Mrs. Ray Parks of Hillsdale, Ind., will celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary today, Aug. 26, 2012, with family and friends.

They were married Aug. 26, 1947, in Centenary United Methodist Church in Terre Haute.

Mrs. Parks is the former Margaret Monninger of Terre Haute and a graduate of Indiana State University. Mr. Parks, formerly of Dana and a World War II U.S. Navy veteran, is retired from farming.

They have two children, Joanie Rumple and husband Jack of Dana, and Jim Parks of Indianapolis. They also have six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Royer

Leroy and Barbara (French) Royer will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary with a reception from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 26, 2012, in the Cory firehouse.

The couple were married on Aug. 17, 1952, in the Cory United Methodist Church.

Gifts are not necessary but cards are welcome.
