Field of Flags Ceremony in Rockville

ROCKVILLE, Ind. — Rockville Correctional Facility will host its sixth annual Field of Flags Veterans Day observance on Friday. Members of the community and RCF staff can purchase flags in memory of, as a tribute to, or in honor of a member of the United States Armed Forces to be displayed Friday through Nov. 13.

Members of veteran organizations will join the Rockville Correctional Facility Honor Guard and staff members in a dedication ceremony, which will include speeches, personal tributes and the playing of Taps, at 2 p.m. in front of the Administration Building at the facility’s main entrance.

Flags placed in honor of a deployed soldier will be displayed with yellow ribbons; flags with purple ribbons honor purple heart recipients; and flags with black ribbons are placed in memory of deceased veterans. All other service members are recognized by the United States flags placed throughout the display.

Proceeds from the project will be donated to the Indiana Department of Military Affairs – Family Relief Fund.

For further information or to sponsor a flag, contact Rita Steed, Community Services director, at 765 569-3178 ext. 543 or email at rsteed@idoc.in.gov.
