Center recruiting adult mentors

TERRE HAUTE — The Human Resources Center of Edgar and Clark counties is currently recruiting adults age 21 and older to become mentors to students in Martinsville and Chrisman school districts.

The application and interview process is now under way, and the program will officially kick off at the beginning of next school year (in August). The mentoring program will consist of weekly visits between the adult and student at the school.

Interested volunteers will need to sign a commitment saying that they plan to be a mentor to one child for an entire school year (nine months) in hopes that the mentor relationship will continue. In addition, volunteers will be required to pass a criminal background check and attend all required trainings.

Those interested should contact Heather Melton, HRC prevention coordinator, at 217-465-4118 ext. 214 or heather.melton@hrcec.org.
