Imo Calvert of Martinsville, Ill., will celebrate her 100th birthday on Thursday. She has lived in Clark County her entire life. Calvert operated Calvert’s Grocery (across from the Martinsville Fairgrounds) from 1957 to 1970, but enjoyed living in the Moonshine area the majority of her life.
Calvert joined Willow Creek Cumberland Presbyterian Church at age 12 and holds the honor of being the longest-standing member in the church’s history. She will celebrate her birthday with her two daughters, Mary Tarr and Norma Calvert of Martinsville, her four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Joseph “Bill” Samm and Rose Scott celebrated their 90th birthdays on Aug. 15 and 21 respectively. Scott has lived most of her life in Vigo County and retired as a registered nurse from St. Anthony’s and Terre Haute Regional hospitals.
Samm has lived most of his life in Indiana and is retired from Standard Oil.
They will celebrate with family and friends today during a Mass in St. Margaret Mary’s Church.

Virginia C. Boes of Terre Haute will celebrate her 80th birthday Monday with family.
She was born Aug. 27, 1932, in Prairie Creek.
