TERRE HAUTE — Milissa Strickland Fowler of Cheyenne, Wyo., daughter of Bob and Mary Strickland, formerly from Clinton, was promoted to Chief Master Sergeant in the Wyoming Air National Guard on Jan. 21.
Fowler is the manager of the Region Five Operations and Security Center for the 153rd Communications Flight. She oversees network operations and security for 15 Air National Guard wings ranging across eight states.
She is also responsible for assisting with coordination, planning, and deploying downward-directed network systems.
Fowler entered the active-duty Air Force in June 1988. In 1992, she enlisted in the Washington Air National Guard, where she served in a variety of demanding positions including supply technician, logistics manager, and non-commissioned officer in charge of plans and programs.
Fowler has been a member of the Wyoming Air National Guard for 12 years and has served in the military personnel flight, contracting office, logistics management, plans and programs, and her current assignment. Fowler has recently deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
