City of Terre Haute, Arts Illiana accepting grant applications

The City of Terre Haute and Arts Illiana are launching the 2012-13 City Arts Project Grant Program for nonprofit arts organizations and arts providers. The grant program was established seven years ago to provide support to the arts, recognizing the importance of a vibrant arts community to Terre Haute’s long-term growth.

The Terre Haute City Arts Project Grant Program provides arts organizations with means to create or expand projects that directly benefit the community in a meaningful way.

Arts Illiana administers the grant program and is now accepting applications from Terre Haute nonprofit organizations with quality arts projects that also demonstrate an effort to reach a broader audience, particularly underserved populations in the community.

Approved by the City Council, $20,000 is available for granting. Individual projects may seek a maximum of $4,000, with a minimum award of $500.

The 2011-12 grantees included: Art Spaces Inc.-Wabash Valley Outdoor Sculpture Collection; Crossroads Repertory Theatre; Swope Art Museum; Terre Haute Symphony Orchestra; Terre Haute Community Band; Crossroads of America Youth Symphony; The Will Center; and Terre Haute Landmarks Inc.

A panel will review the grant applications in a public process facilitated by Arts Illiana with the mayor’s office making the final determinations.

Applications are available online at artsilliana.

org by clicking a Terre Haute logo.

Completed proposals are due by 5 p.m. Aug. 31. Grant projects must take place prior to June 30, 2013.

For more information, contact Sherri Wright at Arts Illiana at (812) 235-5007 or email info@artsilliana.org.
