Edgar County Association for Home Community Education will host a program titled “Hobo Quilts” on Sept. 12 in the multi-purpose building at the Edgar County 4-H Fairgrounds in Paris, Ill.
Debra Heninger, author of the book, “Hobo Quilts,” will discuss the history of “riding the rails” across America. More than 55 emblems were used by hobos to describe provisions, services and sympathetic persons along their routes. Heninger also will display many of the quilts she has made using these emblems.
The program will begin at 10 a.m. Cost is $3 and includes lunch.
