Delta Theta Tau Sorority, Inc., an international philanthropic sorority, elected Karen Allen of Terre Haute as its National President at the sorority’s national convention in July in San Antonio. Allen has been a member of the Terre Haute chapter, Alpha Omicron, since November of 1989 and has chosen as her theme this year as “The Greatest Gift You Can Give Someone Else Is Your Time.”
In the time that she has been in the organization, Allen has held numerous offices in her local chapter, has been province chairman for Alpha Province, and has been a national officer for the past seven years. She is the payroll manager for the Vigo County School Corp. She and her husband, Lynn, also own both of the Another Man’s Treasure stores in Terre Haute.
Also attending the convention in San Antonio from Alpha Omicron Chapter, Terre Haute, was Mandy Allen, Bev Higham, Stacey Mason and Toni Roloff.
Delta Theta Tau was founded in 1903 in Muncie by five high school girls. The first National Convention was staged in 1908 at Elwood. There are currently 98 chapters in the United States, 53 of which are in the state of Indiana.
There will be a reception for Allen from 2 to 4 p.m. Sept. 16 at the Clabber Girl Museum, 900 Wabash Ave. All friends, family and coworkers are invited to attend.

Lucas Bryan, 11, of Terre Haute, placed with a blue ribbon demonstrating Wood Carving in the Junior Division, at the 2012 Indiana State Fair competition on Aug. 4. He also received a red ribbon in the Junior Division of Public Speaking, discussing responsibility on Aug. 12.
Lucas is the son of Michelle Benning-Bryan and Kevin Bryan.
Hannah Bryan, 14, of Terre Haute, placed with a red ribbon demonstrating Flower Pressing in the Junior Division at the 2012 Indiana State Fair competition on Aug. 11. She also received a red ribbon in the Junior Division of Public Speaking on Aug. 12.
Hannah is the daughter of Michelle Benning-Bryan and Kevin Bryan.
