Anniversaries: July 25, 2010

Mr. and Mrs. James Hicks

Mr. and Mrs. James Hicks of Brazil will observe their 50th wedding anniversary on Friday, July 30, 2010. They celebrated with family for a week in April at Madeira Beach, Fla.

Cards are welcome.

The couple were married July 30, 1960, in the First Methodist Church at Bright, Ind., by C.H. Cox. Mrs. Hicks, the former Goldie Blanton, retired as a registered medical technologist from Community Medical Clinic in Brazil. Hicks served in the United States Army and retired from Country Mark Co-op as a regional feed specialist.

The couple have three children, Lisa Hicks, Bradley Hicks and wife Patty, and Derric Hicks. They also have one stepgrandson and three grandchildren.

Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Wrate

Mr. And Mrs. Herbert Wrate of Cory will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 1, 2010, in the Cory Zion Church.

Friends and relatives are all invited.

The couple were married April 17, 1960, in the Terre Haute Seventh-day Adventist Church by Pastor William Ward. 

Mrs. Wrate, the former Phyllis Keller, is a homemaker. Wrate was a teacher and superintendent, and is retired from the Wisconsin Conference of Seventh-day Adventists.

The couple have two children, Steve Wrate and wife Sonia of Chattanooga, Tenn., and Collene Kelly and husband Ron of Arcadia, Ind. 

They also have six grandchildren, three boys and three girls.

Mr. and Mrs. Randy Netzley

Mr. and Mrs. Randy Netzley of Terre Haute observed their 30th wedding anniversary on July 15, 2010. Trips to San Francisco and Costa Rica are planned later this year.

The Netzleys were married July 15, 1980, in Springfield, Ill.

Mrs. Netzley is the former Mary Heil of McLeansboro, Ill. Netzley is a landscape gardener/horticulturist and owns Netzley’s Nursery.

The couple have one son, Cassius Netzley of Carmel.

Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Keller

Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Keller of Terre Haute celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on July 17, 2010, with a party hosted by family.

The Kellers were married July 24, 1960. Mrs. Keller, the former Mary Ann Jones, is a retired homemaker. Keller retired in 1997 from Eli Lilly & Co.

The couple have two children, Jay Keller and wife Cindy of Terre Haute, and Mark Keller and wife Susan of Indianapolis. They also have six grandchildren.

Mr. and Mrs. Richard Bidwell

Mr. and Mrs. Richard Bidwell of New Port Richey, Fla., and formerly of Terre Haute, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Saturday, July 31, 2010, during a private dinner. They took a Caribbean cruise in April.

The Bidwells were married July 29, 1960, in Midland, Mich. Mrs. Bidwell, the former Clara Jane Barkman, is a 1981 graduate of Indiana State University with a bachelor’s and master’s degree in elementary education. She taught elementary school in Terre Haute from 1979 through 1988.

Bidwell, a 1961 graduate of Case Institute of Technology, retired in 1997 from Velsicol Chemical Plant.

Dinner hosts will be the couple’s children, Kim Avelis and husband Jim, and Kevin Bidwell and wife Kendra.

They also have five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
