William and Elizabeth Thornton will observe their 50th anniversary on Friday, July 23, 2010.
Friends and relatives are invited to an open house from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, July 24, at Bethany United Church of Christ in West Terre Haute.
The Thorntons were married July 23, 1960, in Locust Street Evangelical United Brethren Church.
Mrs. Thornton, the former Elizabeth Roth, retired from Otter Creek Jr. High School in 1994 and previously taught at West Vigo High School in West Terre Haute. Thornton retired from Otter Creek Jr. High in 1994, and now works part-time at DeBaun Funeral Homes.
Hosts will be the couple’s three children, Jim (and Lisa) Thornton of Noblesville, Don (and Cheryl) Thornton of Terre Haute, and Julie (and John) Thornton-Gloyeske of Greenwood. They also have six grandchildren.
