Rockville Library recognizes veterans

News Release

ROCKVILLE — Rockville Public Library is once again collaborating with the Indiana State Library, the Military Family Research Institute at Purdue University and public libraries across the state to honor military members, veterans and their families by participating in the annual “Our Heroes’ Tree” program. Through this program, Rockville Public Library is working to honor past and present members and create an awareness of military families currently affected by deployment.

Our Heroes’ Tree is a national program founded to recognize and honor the sacrifices of current service members, veterans and deceased service members. To participate in the Heroes’ Tree at Rockville Library, simply bring a photo or name of  a service member in your family or community from past and present wars, conflicts or peacetime operations to the library by Nov. 1. The library will make a copy of the picture, if needed, and make an ornament for the person. The ornament will be placed on the Heroes’ Tree. Stories about individual service members can also be submitted and displayed in a binder near the tree.

The library has two trees displayed for the public to view with plenty of room for more ornaments.

For more information call the library at 765-569-5544.
