TRIED ‘N’ TRUE: Creamy Pear Pie easy to make, especially if you buy crust

When we lived in the big blue house on the river, we had a lot of fruit trees. When I moved, I always went by and picked fruit to eat until I could get back. We had two pear trees. They were so good. I had to find different ways of fixing pears. This pie is easy to make. You can buy ready-made pie crust or make your own.

Creamy Pear Pie

1 unbaked 9-inch pie crust shell

4 cups peeled, sliced pears

1⁄3 cup sugar

2 tablespoons flour

1 cup (8 oz) sour cream

1⁄2 teaspoon vanilla extract

1⁄2 teaspoon lemon extract

1⁄2 teaspoon almond extract

2 tablespoons brown sugar

Topping: 1⁄4 cup flour

2 tablespoons margarine, melted

• In bowl, toss pears with sugar and flour. Combine sour cream and extracts, add to pear mixture and mix well. Pour into pie shell. In a small bowl, mix topping ingredients until crumbly. Sprinkle over pears.

• Bake 400 degrees for 10 minutes. Then reduce heat to 350 degrees, bake 45 minutes more or until pears are tender.
