Bistate spring garden seminar set Jan. 24

Purdue and University of Illinois extensions are collaborating to offer a bistate spring garden seminar, a program targeted at Extension Master Gardeners and gardening enthusiasts alike.

The program will be at the Beef House Restaurant outside Covington on Jan. 24.  Registration begins at 5:30 p.m. followed by a buffet dinner at 6, and the program beginning at 6:45.

The program is to feature Sandy Mason, University of Illinois Extension Horticulture educator, sharing her presentation “Container Gardening.”  Second in the lineup will be James Schmidt, of the University of Illinois Extension, sharing “What’s New for 2013.” The seminar will increase participants’ knowledge of gardening and give them a better understanding of the dynamics of using containers in small spaces.

For Master Gardeners interested in earning education hours, this program will be worth two hours of education credit.

The registration for the program is $20, which includes the buffet dinner and any materials. Registration is payable at the door.

However, pre-registration is required by contacting Phil Cox, Purdue Extension-Vermillion County at 765-492-5335 or cox119@purdue.edu by Jan. 17. Space is limited and early registration is encouraged.
