TERRE HAUTE — It’s tournament time again. The annual Terre Haute Bridge Sectional starts Sept. 10 at 7:30 p.m. at the International Union of Operating Engineers Building at 6801 U.S. 41 (3.4 miles south of I-70 on U.S. 41). It is for stratified open pairs and 299er pairs. Saturday’s games start at 9:30 a.m. with Bracketed KO Teams. They will play two more times at 1:30 and 7:30 p.m to determine the final KO winners. Open pairs and 299er pairs will play in separate single sessions at 1:30 and 7:30 p.m. New players (0- 50 pts) will play at 1:30 p.m.

Sunday’s Swiss team competition will be stratified and starts at 10:30 a.m. Come early for Terre Haute’s famous Square Donuts. A feast awaits players after the Friday and Saturday evening events. The Terre Haute Bridge Center has been staging a Sectional for more than 50 years. This year we have new co-chair persons: Mary Lunsford and Tana Holt. The same duo who started our successful Monday evening Fun Bridge sessions at the club. They have retained all the tried and true measures to ensure a pleasant time for all. Monday evening Fun Bridge — North-South, first, Mel Bido and Connie Houston; second, David Sively and Sonni Crawford; third, Janet Page and Margi Knotts. East-West, first, Sunny Cohen and Bill Hawk; second, Sharon Russell and Judy Price; third, Sandee Frey and Sharon Haggard.

Tuesday — first, Sharon Strassler and John Clark; second, Joanna Hebermehl and Richard Easton; third, Mark Greenwell and Floyd McWilliams; fourth, Milt Van Reed and Fred Ervin.

Wednesday — first, Sue May and Gloria Trader; second, Diane Scott and Noreen Bryant; third-fourth, Laura Bright and Tana Holt and Janet Horton and Judy Harris; B Strat first, Pat Price and Pat Koger; second Carolyn Steinbaugh and Jim Jennings.

Thursday — first-second, Charles Parks and Nancy Hanley and Mona Sternfeld and Fred Ervin; third, Margie Kintz and Connie Shattuck.

Saturday — first, Joanna Hebermehl and Milt Van Reed; second, Arlene Luchsinger and Mona Sternfeld; third, Jo McDavid and Frank DeSanto.

The following games will be played this week in the Bridge Center at 303 S. 14th St. It is an open club. You do not have to be a member, but you should have an appreciation of the game. Bring your favorite partner or call us at (812) 232-1230 and we will get you a partner. If you are new to the game or just need a brush- up Try the Monday evening game. See below.

Tuesday, open game. 7 p.m.

Wednesday, open game, 10 a.m. brown bag lunch at noon. Lesson at 6 to 8 p.m.
