TERRE HAUTE —
Andrew Park (book and lyrics) and Scott Lamps (music) won a writing contest to have their musical performed as part the 2012 Crossroads Repertory Theatre season.
“Return of Neverland” made its world premiere at the New Theater on the Indiana State University campus last Friday. It will be performed again at 7:30 p.m. today, with Park and Lamps attending the production for the first time. They will stay after the show for a free talk-back session with audience members.
This is the fifth musical Park and Lamps have written together. A sequel to J.M. Barrie’s “Peter Pan,” it tells the tale of Jane, the teenage daughter of Wendy Darling, who is lured to Neverland. There she encounters Captain Hook, Smee, a mystical mermaid, twinkling fairies and, of course, Peter Pan. This family musical is enjoyed by all ages.
Tickets are $15 for adults and $8 for children and may be reserved by calling (812) 237-3333 or using the form at www.crossroadsrep.com. The New Theater is at 540 N. Seventh St.
