Pendleton —
The North Terre Haute 12-year-old Little League team hasn’t been stopped by any foes at the Indiana state tournament.
Mother Nature, however, is another story.
NTH, unbeaten in the state tournament, was leading Bedford 4-2 in top of the sixth inning in the semifinal round when torrential rain hit the Pendleton Sports Complex.
As of press time, the game was still delayed.
According to the NTH coaching staff, reached during the rain delay, if the game had not been resumed by midnight, the final score would revert to the fifth inning score.
NTH led at that point and it will advance to the state championship game.
Because of the inclement weather, the original schedule for the state tournament has been revised. New Albany will now play Golfmoor today in a game originally scheduled for Wednesday.
The championship game, originally scheduled to be played tonight, will be played at a time to be determined on Friday. The state championship winner advances to the Great Lakes Regional.
NTH is 4-0 in the tournament, having gone 3-0 in pool play and with an 11-5 victory over Ben Davis in a quarterfinal game on Tuesday. Going into the semifinal round, NTH has conceded the fewest amount of runs of any team in the 12-team field.
