TERRE HAUTE — Dave Brown is the leader after one round of the Terre Haute City Senior golf hampionship.

Brown went 36-33 with five birdies to shoot a 4-under-par 69 in the first round of the Terre Haute Golf Association tournament played at Rea Park.

Last year’s runnerup finisher in the event will take a one-shot lead over Steve Paaquin, who had 70, into today’s final 18 holes at Hulman Links.

Darrell Shouse and Roger Meneely each had 71 to tie for third and four players had par-72: Ted Kaperak, Alan Buell, Tim Mundy, and Bob Kyle

Kaperak is the defending champ and has won the senior city five times. He went 35-37 in spite of bogeys on the final four holes.

Russ Campbell is the leader in the Super Senior Division for players 60 and over. He went 33-34 with six birdies for 5-under-par 67.

He has a one-shot lead over Larry Griffin, with 68, and two up over Larry Fossi, Bill Verdeyen and Mike Webster, all with 69.
