TERRE HAUTE — Dan Rowe of South Vermillion was named the Class 2A all-state center this week as the Associated Press released its all-state football teams for all five classes.
Two other Wabash Valley first-teamers were Gryfen Brinson of Owen Valley, a defensive back on the Class 4A team, and Adam Masters of South Putnam, an offensive tackle on the 2A squad.
Nine Vigo County players and two Northview players were among honorable-mention selections, including four from Terre Haute South: quarterback Bryn Schwartz, offensive tackle Nate Schuster, linebacker Billy Byerley and defensive end Logan Buske.
North was represented on the Class 5A team by quarterback Chris O’Leary, running back/receiver Daniel Gabbard and center David Knight. West Vigo had a pair of defenders, lineman Matt Flesher and linebacker Ryan Roach, on the Class 3A team and Northview had its passing combination of Trent Lancaster and Zac Niehaus — both just juniors — on the 4A team.
Five other South Vermillion players were honorable-mention picks on the Class 2A team: quarterback Andy Walsh, receivers Patrick Harpenau and Cody Mumaw, defensive lineman Trent Wallace and defensive back Logan Laswell.
Sullivan running back Dakota Hiatt and two more South Putnam players, running back Drew Cash and linebacker Brayden Freeman, were also recognized on the 2A team.
Class A powers Rockville and Linton each had two players honored — offensive tackle Cody Stout and defensive lineman/linebacker James Kent of the Rox and wingback Evan Magni and linebacker Stefan Sparks of the Miners.
