Wayne Newton Post 346 advanced to the American Junior Legion state championship baseball game with a convincing 10-4 win over Rockport Post 254 on Saturday.
Cody Brock (9-1) dominated with a four-hit, seven-inning complete game victory. Johnny Eilbracht and Lane Dransfield each had three hits, while Greg Hannum, Derrick Bennett and Nick Long had RBI-doubles to lead the winners.
Post 346 will play for the state championship at 1 p.m. today.

n North 9-10s drop state opener — At Dyer, Highland defeated Terre Haute North 10-4 in pool play at the Indiana Little League 9-10s state tournament on Saturday.
Leading North offensively, Gage Manuel was 2 for 3 with two RBI, Taneer Pittman 1 for 2 with a RBI and Garrett Drake 1 for 1 with a run scored. Cam Harden was the losing pitcher in a five-inning effort.
North concludes pool play against Zionsville at 1 p.m. today, then faces Evansville at 8 p.m. on Monday. If they advance, single-elimination play begins on Tuesday.
Golf
n Welker in lead — Rachel Welker shot 3-under-par 69 to take the lead in the Terre Haute Women's Golf Association Stroke Play Tournament being played at Rea Park.
The Terre Haute North graduate who earned all-state honors had 31 on the front in her round.
She has a four-shot lead over Steph Meyer going into today's final 18 holes.
Pat Cannon and Megam Ramer each had 83 to lead the first flight.
This tournament takes the place of the women's city championship on the schedule. It will not be played this year.
