PREP ROUNDUP: Cesinger, Jones each score 24 in Clay City win

FARMERSBURG — Blake Cesinger and Brylan Jones poured in 24 points apiece to lead visiting Clay City over North Central 67-53 in SouthWestern Indiana Athletic Conference boys high school basketball Thursday night.

Cesinger also grabbed 13 rebounds, Jake Tiefel added 10 points and Ben Denker contributed 10 assists for the winners, while North Central’s top scorers were Connor Strain, Tyler Strain and Aaron Bellgraph with 20, 12 and 11 points respectively.



CLAY CITY (67) — Denker 2 0-1 5, Cesinger 9 2-4 24, Smith 0 0-0 0, Tiefel 4 2-4 10, Rhodes 0 0-0 0, Jones 10 3-4 24, Allen 2 0-1 4, Harbour 0 0-0 0. Totals 27 FG, 7-14 FT, 67 TP.

NORTH CENTRAL (53) — T.Strain 4 4-7 12, Bellgraph 3 5-8 11, Moore 1 0-0 2, Nikirk 0 0-0 0, Vanschoyck 1 0-0 3, Lebeda 0 0-0 0, C.Strain 7 4-6 20, Stone 2 0-0 5. Totals 18 FG, 13-21 FT, 53 TP.

JV — North Central won 32-29 in OT.

Next — Clay City (12-6 overall, 5-2 SWIAC) will be at home Tuesday to face Linton. North Central is now 5-11 overall.

In other boys high school basketball Thursday:

• Turkey Run 51, Fountain Central 42 — At Veedersburg, the visiting Warriors chalked up their first Wabash River Conference triumph of the season behind 18 points from Jeff Woods, 12 from Riley Sunderman and 11 from Schuyler Jeffers.

Luke Davenport and Ethan Woodrow paced Fountain Central with 14 and 11 points respectively.

• Riverton Parke 55, North Vermillion 52 — At Cayuga, Matt Haltom, Cody Vauters and Cory Edge fired in 18, 11 and 10 points respectively to lead the visiting Panthers to a Wabash River Conference victory.

North Vermillion’s high scorers were Lane Clark with 18 points and Dalton McCool with 14.
