TERRE HAUTE —
Ted Kaperak added to his golf resume on Sunday, winning for the fourth time in the Hulman Links Club Championship.
Kaperak had rounds of 68 and 69 to finish with a 7-under-par 137, finishing six shots ahead of runner-up Tom Jones, who went 74-69 for his 143 score.
The winner had six birdies in going 33-36 in the final round. He had four birdies and an eagle in Saturday’s round.
“I hit it straight and made some putts,” Kaperak said of the weekend competition.
Jones had five birdies and two bogeys for his 69, matching Kaperak’s total in the final round.
Dave Brown and Stu Johnson were the only other players to fire sub-par rounds on Sunday. Each had 71.
Brown finished third with 144 while Scott McVey and Fred Reynolds tied for fourth with 146 scores and Johnson took sixth with 147.
Mark Bird and Mark Neaderhiser each finished with 150 scores in the White Flight. Bird took flight honors by winning a playoff on the second hole.
Russ Campbell shot 143 to take Senior Flight honors for the third straight year.
Next up on the local golf schedule is the senior city to be played at Rea Park on Saturday and at Hulman Links for the final round next Sunday.

• Junior teams compete — At Indianapolis, two teams sponsored by the Terre Haute Junior Tennis Association competed Friday and Saturday at the 2012 USTA Junior Team Tennis Sectional Championships at Indianapolis North Central.
The 18-and-under advanced team of Megan Coghlan, Nicole Howe, Laura Mascari, Alex Barksdale, Nathan Bogle, Ethan Caldwell and Tate Egan won two of five matches in its six-team flight. Lauren Hambrock was also a team member but unable to play at the sectional.
The 18-and-under intermediate team of Olivia Caldwell, Miranda Camp, Caroline Potter, Keaton Akers, Garrett Baysinger, Trace Harruff and Justin Newton won two of four matches in its flight. Carmen Nickels was also a team member but unable to participate at the sectional.
Coaches of the teams were Jordan Kelsey and Wes Kirk.
Auto racing
• Ballou a winner — At Grain Valley, Mo., Robert Ballou recorded his first U.S. Auto Club sprint car victory of the season on Saturday at Valley Speedway.
Ballou bested Jon Stanborough, leading 15 laps including the final two to win the 30-lap feature. Stanbrough was second and Bryan Clauson third.

Momentum was the only thing riding on Indiana State’s baseball game against Bradley on Friday. With a five-game winning streak going, ISU wanted to keep the good vibes going into next week’s Missouri Valley Conference Tournament.

A year ago, the Indianapolis Colts received high marks for the impact players the team added through the NFL draft.
Of the 10 players selected, five ended up either starting or seeing extensive playing time (quarterback Andrew Luck, tight ends Coby Fleener and Dwayne Allen, wide receiver T.Y. Hilton and running back Vick Ballard) during the Colts’ 11-5 season.
