NEW YORK —
Former Indiana State and Wabash Valley track and field standouts Kylie Hutson and Erica Moore competed at the Adidas Grand Prix on Saturday at Icahn Stadium in New York.
Moore, a Sullivan native, competed in the women’s 800-meter run and finished fifth with a time of 2 minutes, 0.72 seconds., a season-best performance. Ethiopian Fantu Magiso won the 800 with a meet-record time of 1:57.48.
More importanly for Moore, who has been battling injuries, is that she qualified for the Olympic B standard in the 800. That means she could be invited to the U.S. Olympic trials in the event. At the Adidas Grand Prix, she finished third among American competitors.
Moore was the bronze medalist in the 800 at the 2012 IAAF indoors at Istanbul, Turkey in March.
Hutson, a Terre Haute native, finished eighth in the women’s pole vault as she cleared 4.22 meters. Hutson finished tied for third among American competitors. She finished behind Lacy Janson and Mary Saxer (both cleared 4.37 meters) and tied with fellow American Janice Keppler.
Brazilian Fabiana Murer won the pole vault as she vaulted 4.77 meters, a world-leading clearance.

The ninth annual WVFCA All-Star Game will be June 22 at Memorial Stadium. The all-star teams report to practice Sunday.

During a 7-1 start and franchise-best seven-game winning streak, Terre Haute Rex pitching was the catalyst. Through eight games, the Rex led the Prospect League with an earned-run average of 1.11.
Even after giving up 10 runs Friday night in a 10-6 loss to the Quincy Gems, the Rex (7-2) are still the league leader in ERA at 2.09. -
