HUNTINGSBURG —
Dubois County remained unbeaten in 2012 Prospect League baseball play Sunday, extending the Terre Haute Rex losing streak to four games with a come-from-behind 7-4 victory at League Stadium.
Trailing 3-0 after five innings, the Rex put together a four-run rally in the top of the sixth with a little help from the Bombers.
An error, a hit batsman and a walk loaded the bases, and after one out Alex Reynolds got an RBI when his grounder was booted for the second error of the inning.
Edmund Cheatham and Jacob Hayes followed with run-scoring singles, and the third error of the inning allowed the fourth run to score.
The Rex were almost as generous in the bottom of the inning, however. After one out, a walk, an error and another walk loaded the bases, and hits by Chris Taveras and Cody Daily accounted for three runs that put Dubois County ahead to stay.
Terre Haute got two hits in the top of the ninth, but Mike Schroeder was picked off after his leadoff single and Kyle Zimmerman’s two-out hit wasn’t enough.
Cheatham and Hayes were both 3 for 5 and Kyle Kempf 2 for 4 for the Rex, who return home for a two-game series against Hannibal starting Tuesday.
