METRO ROUNDUP: Rex win first game back from break

LORAIN, Ohio — A comedy of Lorain County errors got the Terre Haute Rex going in the right direction on Friday and the Rex ultimately forged a 6-3 victory over the Ironmen as Prospect League play resumed after its All-Star break.

Terre Haute scored its first run of the game thanks to three Ironmen errors. Joe Meggs reached on an error, stole second and advanced to third on a throwing error and Meggs scored when Koby Kraemer reached on still another error.

Lorain County tied it in the second, but the Rex took over the lead for good in the third. Jordan Pearson drew a lead-off walk, advanced to second on an error on a sacrifice attempt by Chris Manning and scored via a RBI single by Kraemer.

Chris Manning would score in the fifth to make it 3-1 after he had a one-out triple. Kraemer scored in the sixth on a wild pitch and Brett Teschner drove in Nick Johnson with a double.

A Meggs’ double scored Manning in the seventh for the final Rex run.

Daniel Heefner earned the victory for the Rex as he scattered five hits over 6 1/3 innings.

The Rex (6-3 in the second half) continue their two-game series at Lorain County tonight. The Rex remained in a tie for first with Nashville in the Prospect League West Division.
