TERRE HAUTE —
Rose-Hulman senior running back Kyle Kovach has been named to the Beyond College Sports Network’s NCAA Division III second-team All-America team.
Kovach was Division III’s all-purpose yardage leader in 2011, averaging 225.1 yards per game, and earned his second straight Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference rushing title with 1,213 yards on 298 carries. He had a school-record 246 yards on the ground at Anderson and a 221-yard performance at Kalamazoo that’s fifth-best in Engineer history.
HIs all-purpose yards last fall included 408 receiving yards on 46 catches, 486 kickoff return yards on 24 attempts and 144 punt return yards on 20 attempts. He was named to the SI.com/Associated Press Little All-America third team as its all-purpose player.
Kovach is currently third on the Rose-Hulman career rushing list with 3,005 yards and needs just 311 during the fall season to become the school’s all-time leading rusher. He is already Rose’s career leader in all-purpose yards with 5,192 and ranks third in rushing touchdowns (31) and fourth in total touchdowns (38).
Rose-Hulman opens the 2012 season Sept. 1 with a home game against Kalamazoo.

Colts hoping for more high marks on draft picks
A year ago, the Indianapolis Colts received high marks for the impact players the team added through the NFL draft.
Of the 10 players selected, five ended up either starting or seeing extensive playing time (quarterback Andrew Luck, tight ends Coby Fleener and Dwayne Allen, wide receiver T.Y. Hilton and running back Vick Ballard) during the Colts’ 11-5 season.
While this year’s class may not rival that group in terms of name recognition and flash, it may produce just as many major contributors once the 2013 season gets underway. - Colts in wait-and-see mode for tonight’s NFL draft
