PREP ROUNDUP: WV girls cross country opens with win

WEST TERRE HAUTE — West Vigo opened its girls high school cross country season Tuesday with a 31-25 home victory over Sullivan.

Acetha Tolerson, timed in 23 minutes, 20 seconds, led the Vikings with a first-place finish.

In the boys meet, sophomore Jonah Eckert led West Vigo to a 15-40 decision over the Golden Arrows by crossing the finish line first in 18:35.

    West Vigo got off to a good start in Class 3A high school sectional baseball action Wednesday evening at Dick Ballinger Field.
    The Vikings scored four runs in the first inning of the first sectional game and went on to defeat Brown County 10-0 in five innings with Kevin Stewart hurling a two-hitter.
