Softball scene: Team doesn’t give up after several losses

TERRE HAUTE — The old adage try, try again seems to apply to the recent efforts of the DeHart’s Rental softball squad. Two weeks ago the DeHart’s team was handily defeated in a round-robin affair in Avon. After the lopsided losses, the DeHart team reloaded and returned to the scene of the crime in an attempt to regain a little pride.

In its version of the “Lost Weekend,” the DeHart’s Rental team was handed two consecutive run-rule defeats by Hoopland Farms, 16-6 and by IBE3W 22-12. The team’s only “win” was a 7-0 forfeit victory over Garrett Racing.

Returning to Avon this past weekend for yet another round-robin affair, DeHart’s Rental’s effort was a much more satisfying one as it defeated Indy Players 16-1, I Wolf 29-19 and Dean’s Party Mania 26-20.

Playing this season for the revamped DeHart Rental squad are the following players: Shane Belleu, J.D. Blair, Travis Chessire, Chris “JV” DeHart, Ryan DeHart, Clay Huffman, David Kingery, Ryan Koehler, Brad Pierce, Mark Scimmel, Mark Schober and Jimmy Sullivan.

The DeHart Rental squad plans to participate in the ASA MSP Class C state tournament July 28-30 at Crawfordsville.
