Parkinson’s support group meeting Friday at Westminster Village

TERRE HAUTE — The Parkinson’s support group will meet Friday at Westminster Village, 1120 E. Davis Drive, Terre Haute.

The facilitator for the program will be C. Suzanne Gosse, R.N., Ph.D. Gosse is an assistant professor at Indiana State University. She earned a doctorate in nursing from Ohio State University, a master’s degree in nursing from Ball State University, and bachelor’s and associate’s degrees in nursing from Bob Jones University and Indiana University-Kokomo, respectively. Gosse is a member of Sigma Theta Tau, the International Honor Society of Nursing, Lamda Sigma Chapter; Midwest Nursing Research Society; American Diabetes Association; American Association of Critical Care Nurses; and Indiana State Nurses Association.

The general theme of the program will be management of nonmotor symptoms in Parkinson’s disease. The major nonmotor systems of Parkinson’s include sleep disturbances, sexual dysfunction, orthostatic hypertension (low blood pressure when standing up), urinary incontinence, restless legs syndrome, constipation, fatigue and anxiety.

The meeting is open to anyone interested in the subject and it will include a time for discussion and questions.
