Once each school year, the Illinois PBIS Network formally recognizes schools that demonstrate implementation and sustainability of the PBIS process through measurable criteria at the Tier 1/Universal, Tier 2/Secondary, and Tier 3/Tertiary levels. Schools that want to be recognized for their implementation of PBIS for the 2011-12 school year are required to submit an application, along with supporting documentation, for one of the five levels of school recognition: Start-Up, Emerging, Implementing, Fully Implementing and Exemplar.

Martinsville (Ill.) Elementary School has been commended and recognized for Implementing Level status with PBIS: Maintaining the school-wide PBIS foundation and building the foundation for Tier 2/Secondary Level Interventions.

The requirements for this recognition include: Completing and submitting the PoI at least once yearly; demonstrating PBIS implementation by fulfilling all criteria on the most recent PoI at the following phases: Tier 1/Universal Phase I and II, and Tier 2/Secondary Phase I (see individual application for required supporting documentation); completing and submitting a Multi-Tiered Action Plan; completing and submitting Daily Progress Report for Tier 2/Secondary Interventions; completing and submitting a Tier 2/Tier 3 Interventions Tracking Tool; scoring 70 or higher on the Benchmarks of Quality, or scoring 80/80 on the School-wide Evaluation Tool; and completing the Self-Assessment Survey.

A congratulatory letter from Elizabeth Hanselman, Assistant Superintendent for Special Education and Support Services, Illinois State Board of Education, was given to the school for their dedication of implementing PBIS.
