Riverton Parke’s Jason Wilburn named September ERA winner

Montezuma —

Riverton Parke Junior High School social studies teacher Jason Wilburn has been named the Employee Recognition Award winner for the month of September by the Southwest Parke School Corp. Wilburn is in his second year with SWP.

After graduation from Roger Bacon High School in Cincinnati, Wilburn received his bachelor’s in history at Hanover College, then went on to earn his master’s in education administration from Olivet Nazarene University near Kankakee, Ill.  He was a defensive line coach at Madison Consolidated High School for a year, then taught and was an assistant football coach at Brownsburg High School for six years before coming to Riverton Parke.

He now serves on the school’s Digital Curriculum Committee, is a Pilot Digital Curriculum teacher, and is the head football coach for the Panthers.

“Over the last year, I have had numerous opportunities to grow professionally and personally. I look forward to this continual growth here at Riverton Parke. It is a privilege to be honored as the Employee Recognition Award winner,” Wilburn said.

Through the ERA nomination process, many comments were received about Wilburn, including one colleague who said, “Jason is building the football program the right way. He is very enthusiastic and encouraging with the kids, not just in football, but with all RP students.”

Another nomination letter read, “Jason has shown a great deal of commitment both in and out of the classroom. I’m very impressed with his optimism and work ethic. His leadership skills and overall positive influence have proven to be an asset to our corporation.”
