TERRE HAUTE —
Indiana State University is offering $1,000 scholarships for graduates of Vincennes University’s technology programs to pursue their bachelor’s degree.
ISU’s College of Technology Transfer Award is available to help transfer students finish their four-year degree in a program housed in the College of Technology. To qualify, Vincennes students must be admitted into an approved program, have a minimum of 30 transferable credits with at least a 2.75 cumulative grade point average and must enroll in at least 12 credit hours each semester at ISU. Preference will be given to students who have completed an associate degree. Indiana and out-of-state students are eligible; international and returning students are not. Ten scholarships are available for the 2012-2013 academic year.
“There are really a lot of opportunities for transfer students, though I think some transfer students are not aware of all of them,” said Kara Harris, professor and director of undergraduate student services in the College of Technology, “These new scholarships will provide students with additional financial assistance to achieve their educational goals.”
To receive priority consideration for the award, incoming Vincennes transfers should be admitted to ISU for the fall semester by April 1, when the first scholarships will be awarded. Students admitted after June 1 will not be considered for the award.
“The Technology Division at Vincennes University and the College of Technology at Indiana State have had a long partnership together, and we’re very excited that ISU is extending the scholarship to our students to continue their education at ISU,” said Art Haase, dean of the Technology Division at Vincennes University. “This agreement strengthens and reinforces the partnership that we have developed over a long period of time.”
ISU faculty members hope that the Transfer Award scholarship program, which includes the Vincennes awards, will provide greater incentive and support to students who might otherwise hesitate to continue their education.
“The College of Technology provides opportunities for students at all levels of their academic endeavors,” said Bradford Sims, dean of the College of Technology. “We are pleased to offer this additional financial assistance to students looking to continue their education at Indiana State University.”
