MARSHALL, Ill. —
Monthly Family Literacy Nights are planned for pre-schoolers ages 3, 4, and 5 years — with a parent — at Marshall Public Library again this school year thanks to funding by Marshall Rotary Club and the Evelyn G. Knowles Foundation.
Each program is a 30-minute session at which the children listen to stories, learn finger plays and songs, do interactive projects with a parent and more.
The parents learn valuable information about effective ways to read to children and provide a reading environment at home.
Children receive a free book to take home at each session and an additional book if they complete a monthly reading log.
Family Literacy Nights will be on the third Thursday of each month beginning on Sept. 20, at 6:30 p.m. in the library. Registration is limited; call the library at (217) 826-2535 to register.
The Marshall Public Library is at 612 Archer Ave., in Marshall. Visit www.marshallillibrary.com.
