Riverton livestock team headed for Nationals

TERRE HAUTE — The Riverton Parke Livestock Judging team captured second place in the State Livestock Judging Contest at Purdue University on May 19. The team now moves on to national competition at Denver in January.

At West Lafayette, senior Cory Edge placed first individually, while sophomore Matt Marion took second.  

The annual FFA Banquet was also conducted at RP on May 11 and numerous members of the chapter received awards, including Tanner Edge (Star Greenhand); Megan Marion (FFA Pride Award); Judson Long (Star Discovery Award); Shelby Benell (Excellence); Shane Feuquay (Growth); Matt Marion (Success); Miranda Dressler (Teamwork); Kelly Dressler (Effort); and Cameron Frazier (Leadership).

Blue Jackets and Gold Standards were given to Frazier and Heath Rohr, while the Outstanding Senior Award went to Cory Edge. The Parli Coach Award was given to Tammy Marion, and the Livestock Coach’s Award was given to Doug Edge. Honorary Chapter Degrees were also bestowed upon Josh Douglass, Tammy Marion, and Darrell Dressler.

FFA sponsor Corey Hobson also announced the chapter’s officers for the 2012-13 school year. They are Cameron Frazier (president), Matt Marion (vice-president), Tanner Edge (Sentinel), Kelly Dressler (secretary), Shelby Benell (treasurer), Miranda Dressler (reporter), and Heath Rohr (student advisor).
