JAG program to host free soup dinner

BRAZIL, Ind. — Northview High School/Cumberland Academy’s JAG program is planning a free soup dinner Saturday as a community service to Brazil and Clay County residents.

The dinner will be served from 4:30 to 6 p.m. in the family center of Brazil Church of the Nazarene at 1002 E. National Ave. Guests will have a choice of chili or potato soup with peanut butter sandwiches and crackers on the side. There also will be soda, lemonade and tea available. Donations to support the JAG program will be accepted.

JAG, or Jobs for America’s Graduates, is a school-to-career program implemented in 700 high schools, alternative schools, community colleges and middle schools across the country and the United Kingdom. JAG’s mission is to keep young people in school through graduation and provide work-based learning experiences that will lead to career advancement opportunities, or to enroll in a postsecondary institution that leads to a rewarding career. JAG students consider community service to be a major part of the program.
