TERRE HAUTE — Tyler Thornton, of Terre Haute, has been named to the dean’s list in the University of Notre Dame’s First Year of Studies for outstanding scholarship during the Fall 2011 semester. Students who achieve dean’s honors at Notre Dame represent the top 30 percent of students in their college.

Tyler, a 2011 graduate of Terre Haute South, is the son of Donald and Cheryl Thornton of Terre Haute.

• Anderson University has announced its dean’s list for the fall semester of the 2011-2012 academic year.

To be named to the dean’s list, a student must earn a semester grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a scale of 4.0.

Local students named to the dean’s list include: Hing Sing Chan, Aaron Joseph Hoff and Sarah Marie Russel all of Terre Haute.

Anderson University is a private, four-year, Christian liberal arts institution of approximately 2,600 undergraduate and graduate students. Established in 1917 by the Church of God, the university offers more than 60 undergraduate majors and graduate programs in business, music, nursing, education and theology.

• Terre Haute resident Audrey Mee Valentine, biological/pre-medical illustration major, was named to the 2011 fall semester dean’s list at Iowa State University. Students named to the Dean’s List must have earned a grade point average of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale while carrying a minimum of 12 credit hours of graded course work.

• Indiana State University student Andrea Brewer was omitted from the list of students who achieved dean’s list for the fall 2011 semester. Brewer is from Terre Haute. Students must have a 3.5 grade point average or above on a 4.0 scale in order to be eligible for the dean’s list at Indiana State.
