Fuqua Elementary to participate in Soles4Souls fundraising program

. — Fuqua Elementary School will be participating in a unique fundraising program offered by Soles4Souls Inc., the international shoe charity that distributes shoes to people in need all over the world. Soles4Souls recently committed to sending more than 1.3 million pairs of shoes to the devastated country of Haiti after a 7.0 magnitude earthquake struck in January. Participating in Soles4Souls’ fundraising program is one way that local schools and other organizations can get involved and contribute to the relief efforts being organized to Haiti.

In addition to making a difference in the lives of people in Haiti and across the globe, Fuqua Elementary will also generate critical revenue for its operations and goals, something Soles4Souls is proud to offer. “We are so grateful to community organizations like Fuqua Elementary for stepping up and realizing the need in the international community,” said Wayne Elsey, Founder and CEO of Soles4Souls. “For the cost of a latte, you can put shoes on the feet of a child in need, as well as support a local school or community organization. Our fundraiser is a partnership in its truest form, and we need more partners like our friends at Fuqua Elementary to recognize the simplicity of this gift and get involved.”

Soles4Souls’ fundraising program provides an innovative alternative to traditional fundraisers, allowing participants to raise valuable revenue for their organization, while making a significant difference in the lives of others. How the program works is simple:

• Participants collect financial sponsorships of new Soles4Souls flip flops and clogs

• Soles4Souls uses their portion to ship the sponsored shoes to people in need

• Soles4Souls sends the organization its fundraiser earnings, and donors its tax receipts.

Fuqua Elementary will run the fundraising program through Monday.

The school hopes to create responsible and well-educated citizens ready to contribute to individuals who are in need, and to mold students into compassionate, caring and understanding young adults. Students will learn to appreciate diversity and also prove to them that one person can make a difference. Students will learn to appreciate what they have, and also be taught how happy people can be without things that most feel are necessities. Monetary donations and also gently used shoes can be dropped off at the school at 1111 E. Wheeler Ave. between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m.
