VINCENNES — Teams from five high schools will compete in a Regional Science Olympiad at Vincennes University on Feb. 16. Participating schools include Bloomington New Tech, Sullivan, Terre Haute North, Terre Haute South, and Vincennes Rivet.
Students will compete in 23 events that will test their knowledge of biology, earth science, chemistry, physics, computers and technology. This marks the 21st year VU has hosted the Science Olympiad Regional Competition.
Teams will be welcomed during an opening ceremony at 8 a.m. in VU’s Red Skelton Performing Arts Center. The contests will begin at 9 in the McCormick Science Center and other campus sites and will conclude at 2:15 p.m. Awards will be presented at 3 in VU’s Green Activities Center.
Members of winning teams in each event will receive medals. Top-finishing teams will receive trophies and may advance to the State Science Olympiad on March 16 at Indiana University.
