Scholarship Scramble to benefit Ivy Tech
TERRE HAUTE — The 10th Annual Scholarship Scramble to benefit the Ivy Tech Community College Scholarship Fund will take place on May 22 at Hulman Links Golf Course, 990 N. Chamberlain Road. The event will include great food and prizes. Registration begins at 10:30 a.m. The entry fee is $500 per team of four.
Prizes will be awarded in each of two divisions; gross and Peoria handicap. Prizes are as follows: first place, $100 gift certificate per player; second place, $50 gift certificate per player and third place, $25 gift certificate per player. Terre Haute
Welding students take top honors
Nathan Lundsford, a South Vermillion senior, and Rodney Pritchard, a South Vermillion junior, garnered top honors in their respective divisions at the Ivy Tech Welding Competition on April 15. The students competed against eight local and regional high school welders.
As a winner of the senior division, Lunsford won a $2,000 scholarship to Ivy Tech.
Pritchard was first in the junior division.
Lunsford and Pritchard had to complete a written exam and had to weld after reading a blueprint. Pritchard had to weld lap joints, and Lunsford had to include t-joints in his project.
South Vermillion High School houses the PVETI Welding Technology class.

Gerstmeyer Class
of 1969 plans reunion
The 40th class reunion of the Gerstmeyer Class of 1969 will be at the MCL Banquet Center on Sept. 12. Social hour will begin at 6 p.m., and dinner will follow at 7 p.m.
