Rose-Hulman no match for Franklin

FRANKLIN — Franklin showcased its No. 23 NCAA Division III ranking from d3football.com in a 56-0 victory over Rose-Hulman in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference football Saturday.

Jonny West finished 22 of 30 for 352 yards and three touchdowns, with Cody Hess rushing for 125 yards and two scores to lead the Grizzlies. Kyle Linville added six catches for 164 yards and one touchdown.

Senior Mitch Snyder of Casey, Ill., finished 16 of 29 through the air for 133 yards to pace Rose’s offense. Freshman Aaron Abbott had nine catches for 61 yards and freshman Jacob Dye hauled in seven receptions for 62 yards.

Three defensive players reached double digits in tackles for Rose-Hulman. Sophomore Grant DePalma joined junior Craig Voges with 11 stops each, while Voges also grabbed one interception. Freshman Joseph Woodley pitched in with a 10-tackle performance.

Rose battled within 7-0 after one quarter before Franklin’s offense used a 35-point second quarter to take control of the game. The Grizzlies also earned a shutout on defense for the third consecutive week.

Rose-Hulman (2-5 overall, 2-3 HCAC) will travel to Mount St. Joseph next Saturday. Franklin improved to 5-2 overall and 5-0 respectively.
