Moline, Ill. —
Rose-Hulman struggled offensively Friday afternoon as the Engineers lost 7-1 to Webster in their second baseball game of the NCAA Division III Central Regional at Augustana.
With the loss, Rose-Hulman falls into the elimination bracket; the Engineers will now face Buena Vista at 3:30 p.m. today. If the Engineers win, they will play a second game later tonight.
Rose-Hulman was only able to muster four hits during the game as Webster pitcher David Mueller pitched a complete game with eight strikeouts for his ninth victory of the season.
The Engineers were able to keep the game within striking distance for awhile, picking up two double plays defensively.
Webster had taken an early 2-0 lead after scoring a run in both the first and second inning. The Gorlocks added two more runs in the fifth, and a three-run homer in the eighth provided insurance runs.
The Engineers crossed the plate in the seventh inning when Donald Stopka doubled and scored on a wild pitch.
Rose-Hulman fell to 30-13 on the year while Webster improved to 35-9.
