TERRE HAUTE —
Rose-Hulman has been selected to finish fifth in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference this season, according to a preseason poll of league women’s soccer coaches announced Tuesday.
Transylvania University received eight first-place votes to earn the top spot in the preseason poll. Hanover and Earlham were picked second and third, respectively, and each received one first-place vote.
Mount St. Joseph earned the fourth slot and Rose was picked to finish in the league standings. The Engineers finished 7-12 overall and 4-5 in conference play last season.
Rose-Hulman returns 15 letterwinners and nine starters, including a talented class of six newcomers from five states. The experienced squad includes seven seniors, highlighted by 2009 HCAC Player of the Year Annmarie Stanley and second-team all-league goalkeeper Julie Brennan.
Rose’s schedule begins with a home matchup against Albion on Sept. 3.
