The Terre Haute Rex extended its hold on first place Wednesday, holding off Dubois County 2-1 at League Stadium.
The Rex stretched their win streak to a season-best four victories.
Terre Haute (5-1) took a 1-0 lead in the first. Nolan Earley led off the game with a double and reached third before scoring on a passed ball.
The Rex added a run in the third when Rey Hernandez doubled and reached third on a wild pitch. Koby Kraemer drove Hernandez home with a sacrifice fly.
Michael Son was the winning pitcher, scattering four hits in five innings and allowing one unearned run.
Indiana State pitcher Tyler Browning picked up the save with two hitless innings.
ISU’s Brett Merkley was the losing pitcher for the Bombers. He went 51⁄3 innings, walking four and striking out five.
The Rex play at Danville tonight.
