SPRINGFIELD, Ill. —
One night after a dramatic come-from-behind victory, the Terre Haute Rex went down meekly to the Springfield Sliders 7-1 in Prospect League baseball Friday night.
Casey McCurdy’s seventh-inning homer was the only bright spot for Terre Haute, which trailed 7-0 at that point.
The Rex, who have already clinched the West Division’s second-half title, finish the season with three home games, beginning with tonight’s 7:05 contest against Hannibal.

n Rex 11, Sliders 7, 12 innings — In Thursday’s game at Springfield, the Rex scored four times after two were out in the top of the ninth to take a lead, then added four more runs in the 12th after squandering that lead.
Tanner Glore and Jacob Hayes were on base after getting ninth-inning hits with two outs and Kyle Kempf and Nick Johnson had run-scoring singles and Kyle Zimmerman a two-run single to give Terre Haute a 7-6 lead.
An unearned run in the bottom of the ninth sent the game to extra innings, but in the 12th walks to Spencer Mahoney and Hayes started the winning rally. Kempf loaded the bases with a single, Johnson doubled, and a hit by Zimmerman and a bases-loaded walk to Glore completed the scoring.
Josh Dove was winning pitcher in relief for the Rex and Hayes — his teammate as long as 10 years ago at Riley — broke out of a slump with four hits.
