‘Seek, Read and Find’ program scheduled

TERRE HAUTE — Senior Education Ministries, Inc. has partnered with Comfort Keepers to offer to the senior community an opportunity to learn about ways to enhance daily living.

The free “Seek, Read and Find” program is planned from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. the first Thursday of each month at the Vigo County Public Library at Seventh and Poplar streets.

The beginner Bible class will focus on the Book of John and will be done via two members of the chaplaincy department: Assistant Chaplain Edgar Guy and Brother Robert Reeder.

Guy was led to the Lord as a small child. He tells of being raised in a church family all his life and remembers being saved during a vacation bible school in the 60s. Guy says “It’s been a labor of love ever since.” He was a deacon for two years before becoming a minister. He doesn’t seem to like talking about himself but he has no problem talking about Jesus.

Seen around town usually wearing a Biblical cap or T-shirt, Guy says, “Most people who know me would not know who I am without my hat.” He likes to work with seniors at nursing homes. “It’s just how the lord led me.” His father always went to nursing homes and Guy was called by the spirit to do the same. Guy now works with Senior Education Ministries as the assistant chaplain.

Reeder was born in 1952 in Lima, Ohio to a protestant family that consisted of six children and more than 50 foster children. Reeder accepted the Lord in 1963 at an inter-denominational holiness campground. He has devoted more than 18 years on the railroad, six years as a CDL driver, and is presently self-employed. A family man, he is married to his second wife of 19 years with a son, three daughters, a step-daughter, and several grandchildren. He was called to preach in 1978 in a lay capacity for 10 1/2 years. He was led to serve for two and a half years doing prison ministry Bible study. “I’m so glad now to be laboring in love for the Lord and toward others with Senior Education Ministries,” Reeder said.

A light lunch and door prizes are included in the program. Space is limited to 12 participants.; bring your Bible. Reservations are required. Call (812) 917-4970 to make a reservation.
